when i close my eyes and think about my south african childhood, some of the brightest and happiest memories that hoola-hoop around in my brain are the moments in the park just down the road from our house. i can still feel the rush of the wind blowing in my hair as i slide down the very loooooooooong slide. i can feel my tummy turning inside out on the merry-go-round. my body bounces at the memory of the seesaw.

i’m still a big kid. i swing whenever i get the chance and whenever i hit a new city, the first thing i scout out is the closest playground to the place where i’m staying. i also route through the playground whenever i go running. nothing like a swing to get the core muscles strengthened mid-run!

what happened to play? why have we stopped shrieking with delight at life? a #workrevolution is approaching our world at a phenomenal rate and very few people are taking it seriously enough:

  • jobs are being invented every day that have never existed before
  • the robotic nonsense that has kept humans far too occupied (think boring email inbox) is drawing to an end as robotics and artificial intelligence becomes more and more prominent in our working world
  • employers are wanting creative problem solvers who need more unleashing and less management

humans are scared but what they don’t realise is that they are on the edge of the most exciting period in history: WE ARE BEING GIFTED WITH THE OPPORTUNITY TO BECOME FULLY HUMAN AGAIN!

human acceleration and education have always been my two biggest passions. i see work as a giant playground (check out my chaos theory talk). i have dedicated my life (and i plan to live to be 189 so we’re talking many years here) to seeing work transformed.  people are passionate about global warming, education, health, housing. these are all important but for me work has to come first.

too many people are unhappy at work.  too many people come home day after day and show their children that life lies outside of work, that work is a bore and something that needs to be escaped. enough of that i say. work is meant to be the place where our souls, minds and hearts come ALIVE! and if this happens, i know in my gut that a solution for every other major problem we face on this planet will come to us much quicker because we will have a world filled with human beings who are being human, not robotic. and this is a very beautiful thing.

i want to be alive when this tipping point is reached because the world is going to look and feel very different because of it. so, let’s go play … i have chaos and some rocket fuel for you.
